March 5, 2025.
A Bridge That Connects Lives and Livelihoods
The Kalikote Bridge and the Iron Bridge serve as vital access routes for the people traveling between Amor Port and Kenyam District. Over time, these bridges have suffered severe damage due to aging, putting the community at risk and disrupting the transportation of essential goods.
Under the leadership of First Lieutenant Eka Rahmatullah, a team of 27 Mayangkara Warriors, along with community volunteers, worked hand in hand to repair the damaged structures. Demonstrating the spirit of "gotong royong" (mutual cooperation), the task force replaced 125 ironwood planks, reinforcing the bridge with materials provided through self-support initiatives by Yonif 503/Mayangkara Task Force.
Restoring Safety and Economic Flow
With the bridge now fully operational, residents no longer have to fear for their safety while crossing. The restoration has also enabled the smooth passage of trucks and other vehicles, allowing logistics and goods to be transported seamlessly from Amor Port to Kenyam District.
"Thank you very much, Mr. TNI, for repairing our damaged bridge. Now, we can cross safely and comfortably, " expressed a grateful resident of Kalikote Village.
The impact of this restoration extends far beyond convenience; it directly boosts the local economy by facilitating the movement of essential supplies, strengthening trade and daily activities in the district.
A Commitment to Community Development
Commander of Task Force Yonif 503/Mayangkara, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Gurbasa Samosir, emphasized the significance of this initiative:
"With the restoration of this operational bridge, the economic cycle will automatically improve. We hope this effort brings great benefits to the people, especially the local community."
This initiative reflects the TNI's unwavering commitment to not only safeguarding security but also actively contributing to infrastructure development, ensuring that communities in remote areas of Papua can thrive.
Through unity, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility, the Yonif 503/Mayangkara Task Force has once again proven that TNI is more than a military force—it is a pillar of progress and hope for the people.
