PAPUA - Amidst the towering, silent mountains of Papua, a story of compassion and resilience unfolds. Soldiers from the Sinak Airport Post, Task Force 700/WYC, led by First Lieutenant Inf Karel, embarked on a humanitarian mission to bring essential healthcare services to the people of Gigobak Village, Sinak District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, on March 24, 2025.

Braving treacherous terrain, the team carried not only medical supplies, but also hope. With unwavering determination, they navigated winding paths to reach the village, driven by a mission to improve the lives of their fellow Indonesians.

A Mission of Healing and Education

Upon arrival, an overwhelming sense of joy filled the air as villagers gathered, eager to receive medical care. The TNI medical team quickly set up a temporary health post, transforming it into a beacon of hope where smiles replaced worries, and care replaced despair.

The soldiers didn’t just provide treatment—they educated and empowered. With warmth and patience, they taught families about stunting prevention, the importance of clean water, and healthy living habits. Using simple, easy-to-understand explanations, they planted the seeds of health awareness in the minds of future generations.

"We are deeply grateful to the TNI for coming all this way to help us. Until now, accessing medical treatment has been incredibly difficult, " expressed Mama Naomi, a local villager, her eyes brimming with emotion.

More Than Medicine: Strengthening the Bonds of Brotherhood

Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of Habema Joint Operations Command, emphasized that the TNI's presence in the village was about more than just healthcare—it was about building trust, strengthening unity, and bringing hope.

"The presence of our soldiers in these remote communities provides a sense of security, comfort, and optimism for a better future, " he stated.

Echoing this sentiment, First Lieutenant Inf Karel reaffirmed the TNI's commitment to ensuring every Papuan has access to proper healthcare.

"We will continue to serve and protect. Health is a fundamental right, and we are here to make sure that right is fulfilled for every citizen, " he said with determination.

Lighting Up Lives, One Village at a Time

This is not just a story of medical aid—it is a story of hope breaking through isolation, of resilience overcoming hardship, and of human connection transcending distance. The TNI soldiers’ unwavering dedication is proof that even the smallest acts of kindness can spark meaningful change.

As the people of Gigobak Village embrace newfound health and knowledge, the TNI continues its mission, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey towards a healthier, brighter Papua.
