PAPUA - In remote areas of Papua, access to healthcare remains a significant challenge. Understanding this critical need, Task Force 700/WYC took a proactive step by launching door-to-door medical services in Wombru Village, West Sinak District, Papua. Led by Second Lieutenant Inf Risal, the Java Gate Post medical team visited residents' homes to provide much-needed healthcare assistance on March 24, 2025.
With Papua’s rugged terrain and limited medical facilities, many villagers struggle to access proper healthcare. This initiative bridges the gap, ensuring that even the most isolated residents receive medical attention.
"Unpredictable weather and unhealthy lifestyles are major factors contributing to illnesses in this region, " said Second Lieutenant Inf Risal. "The lack of nearby healthcare centers and long distances further prevent many from getting the treatment they need. That’s why we are bringing medical services directly to their doorsteps."
Beyond Treatment: Educating for a Healthier Future
This door-to-door health initiative is part of the TNI Task Force’s broader social service program, designed to improve the well-being of local communities. Beyond providing medical treatment, the TNI team also educates residents on the importance of maintaining hygiene, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and preventing common diseases.
Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of Habema Joint Operations Command, emphasized the long-term impact of these efforts.
"By directly reaching out to people's homes, we can ensure that every resident receives proper healthcare. Our goal is to enhance Papua’s overall health standards and empower communities with knowledge on disease prevention, " he stated.
A Welcomed Initiative with Lasting Impact
Local villagers expressed gratitude for the TNI Task Force's dedication, as many had long struggled with health issues due to the lack of accessible medical services. This initiative sets a powerful example, encouraging other organizations and stakeholders to contribute to improving healthcare in remote regions.
Through its commitment to both security and humanitarian missions, Task Force 700/WYC continues to be a pillar of hope and progress in Papua.
