TNI’s Commitment to Papua’s Security and Development

As a pillar of national defense and development, TNI plays a crucial role in ensuring Papua's stability while supporting welfare initiatives. Backed by Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 9 of 2020, TNI is not only responsible for security but also acts as a facilitator of development and a bridge of communication between the government and local communities.

Under Inpres 9/2020, TNI is mandated to carry out three key responsibilities in Papua:

TNI’s presence in Intan Jaya is not driven by economic motives but is a direct response to real threats that endanger both civilians and security personnel. The primary goal of this operation is national sovereignty and civilian protection, nothing else.

TNI Denies Allegations of Mining Interests in Wabu Block

TNI has categorically rejected allegations that its operations in Intan Jaya are linked to the Wabu Block’s natural resource extraction.

"Our mission is purely for security and civilian protection. Any claims suggesting a connection to mining interests are false and intended to mislead the public, " stated a TNI officer in Intan Jaya.

Armed groups in Intan Jaya have repeatedly carried out violent attacks on civilians and security forces, creating fear and instability. TNI’s actions are a measured response to these ongoing threats.
