PAPUA - Amid the vast and breathtaking highlands of Papua, the Yonif 1 Marine Border Security Task Force stands not only as a guardian of the nation’s borders but also as a true companion to the people of Dekai District, Yahukimo. On Wednesday (19/03/2025), a heartwarming story of brotherhood and unity unfolded through their every step.

Unlike the echoes of conflict, the air was filled with warm greetings and sincere smiles as the Marines patrolled the village—not as soldiers of war, but as friends and family. Led by Task Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mar Siswanto, the Marines took time to engage with the community, listen to their stories, and share moments of happiness.

In one corner of the village, a Marine soldier sat beside an elderly woman, attentively listening to the tales of her life. Not far away, children laughed joyfully as they played with the soldiers, their laughter echoing through the mountains. But it was not just words or gestures that were shared—real assistance was extended. Basic necessities (sargal) were distributed with genuine compassion, easing the burdens of those in Indonesia’s easternmost frontier.

"We are not just soldiers; we are part of Indonesia’s big family. We want to be present in the community, sharing in both joy and hardship, and building a future together, " said Lieutenant Colonel Mar Siswanto, his eyes reflecting deep sincerity.

Meanwhile, Pangkoops Habema emphasized that the Yonif 1 Marine Border Security Task Force’s presence in Dekai was more than just a military duty—it was a heartfelt mission to foster unity.

"In the challenging landscapes of Papua, these Marines serve as an oasis of kindness, bringing hope and warmth to the people, " he stated.

Through these simple yet meaningful gestures, the TNI Marines reaffirm that their mission goes beyond security—it is about strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and building a brighter future for Papua.
