Lighting Up Dreams in Gome: TNI Soldiers Bring Knowledge to Papua’s Remote Corners

3 weeks ago 14

PAPUA - In the heart of Papua’s vast mountains and forests, where the only way in is through the wings of an aircraft, a spark of hope flickered in Gome Village on Thursday (3/27/2025). But this time, it wasn’t the sound of gunfire that echoed—it was the laughter of children gathering around TNI soldiers from Task Force Yonif 700/WYC.

These soldiers were not just distributing drawing books and stationery; they were opening doors to a world beyond the dense jungles and towering peaks. The moment the children received their colorful books, their eyes lit up—full of wonder, as if stepping into a dream they had never dared to imagine.

"We want these little brothers and sisters to know they are not forgotten, " said First Lieutenant Na’im Aryo, Commander of the TNI Task Force Post in Gome, his voice filled with emotion. "These books may seem small, but we hope they plant the seeds of great dreams."

Beyond handing out supplies, the soldiers took their time to interact, play, and share stories. The joy of their laughter intertwined with the cheerful chatter of the children, painting a scene of warmth in the cool mountain air. Smiles spread across young faces—smiles that, perhaps, had been hidden for too long.

"We want to build a bridge between hearts, " Lieutenant Na’im continued. "So that when they grow up, what they remember is not our camouflage uniforms or weapons, but the kindness, smiles, and warmth we share today."

Meanwhile, Pangkoops Habema Major General TNI Lucky Avianto emphasized that despite Gome’s remote location and limited resources, hope continues to thrive. "Here, in the hands of TNI soldiers, something as simple as a picture book becomes a symbol of love and care. And in the eyes of these children, dreams of a brighter future begin to take shape."
