YAHUKIMO - In a significant effort to maintain security stability and strengthen ties with local communities, the Indonesian Border Security Task Force PNG Mobile Yonif 1 Marines conducted a health service mission in Logpon Village, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan, on Sunday (29/06/2025).
While primarily tasked with securing the border area, the Yonif 1 Marines Task Force Health Team extended their support to the local population by providing much-needed medical assistance to those in need. This initiative forms part of their broader territorial activities aimed at fostering human connection and unity between the Indonesian military and border communities.
Lieutenant Colonel Marinir Siswanto, the Commander of Yonif 1 Marines Task Force, expressed that the activity demonstrates the TNI's commitment to ensuring not only security but also the health and well-being of the community. "This humanist approach is crucial in building trust and maintaining stability in the border region, " he stated.
Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Pangkoops Habema, also highlighted the importance of such efforts, stating, "We hope that the Marines' presence will inspire the entire community to collaborate in maintaining a conducive environment. These health services are vital in improving the health standards for people who live far from hospitals or health centers."
This health service initiative underscores the TNI's dedication to supporting not only national security but also the welfare of people living in remote areas, ensuring they receive necessary healthcare services that are often out of reach.
