PAPUA - Amid their duty to safeguard the nation's sovereignty, the soldiers of 432/WSJ Airborne Koops Habema are fighting a different battle in Mbua District, Nduga Regency, Papua Highlands. Not with weapons, but with books, candy, and love. A battle against illiteracy, fought one page at a time, Tuesday (March 11, 2025).

They have built a simple yet vibrant Reading Hut—a place where children from Mbua can gather, learn, and dream. There is no coercion, only an irresistible invitation wrapped in kindness and sweet treats.

"At first, the kids only came for the candy, " Sergeant Ridolof recalled with a smile. "But over time, they became interested in the books we provided. We believe that forced learning doesn’t work. Instead, we want to cultivate their curiosity and love for reading naturally."

The Reading Hut is more than just a place filled with books—it is a sanctuary where small dreams take root. Here, children explore letters, numbers, and the vast world beyond their village. It is here that hope is nurtured, and inspiration begins to flourish.

For the soldiers of Airborne 432/WSJ at Mbua Post, their mission extends beyond national defense. They see it as their calling to educate and uplift the younger generation. They firmly believe that education is a fundamental right for every child, no matter how remote their home may be.

"We want to be part of the positive change in Papua, " said Sergeant Ridolof. "We want to show that TNI is present not just as protectors but as compassionate members of the community, ready to serve with heart."

Meanwhile, Commander of Koops Habema, Major General Lucky Avianto, emphasized that the Reading Hut in Mbua District is more than just a literacy program—it is a beacon of hope, a testament that education can and must reach even the most isolated corners of the nation.

"This initiative proves that love and dedication can transform lives, no matter how remote the place, " he concluded.

Through this simple yet profound initiative, the soldiers of 432 Koops Habema are opening new doors of opportunity for the children of Mbua, one book, one lesson, and one dream at a time.
