PAPUA - Amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Papua, a heartwarming scene unfolded in Mumugu Village, Krepkuri District, Nduga Regency, on Friday, March 7, 2025. Instead of the usual silence, the village was filled with the sound of brooms sweeping and machetes clearing overgrown weeds. It was a collaborative effort between Task Force Yonif 503 Koopsau Habema and the local community to restore the village’s beauty.

With a genuine smile, Serka Waris led 10 personnel from the Batu Border Post of Task Force Yonif 503/Mayangkara. They came not with weapons, but with cleaning tools in hand. Together with the residents, they cleared the main roads, open fields, and even the village cemetery places that had long been neglected.

"This is not just about cleaning the environment, but also about cleansing the heart, " said Serka Waris, his eyes full of determination. "We want to show that we are here not to instill fear, but to offer help and love."

The Mumugu villagers were deeply moved, and many joined in. For years, they had seen TNI soldiers as distant, even intimidating figures. But today, they witnessed firsthand the warmth and kindness behind the uniform.

"We are truly touched by what the soldiers have done, " said one resident. "For so long, we have lived in fear. But today, we feel safe, seen, and cared for."

This activity was more than just cleaning it was a moment of trust-building, of transforming fear into friendship. The once-overgrown village now stood cleaner and brighter, and so did the spirits of its people.

Meanwhile, Pangkoops Habema, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, expressed his hopes that this simple act would forge a deeper connection between the TNI and the local community.

"We hope this initiative is the beginning of a stronger relationship between the TNI and the Papuan people, " said Pangkoops. "Together, we strive for a peaceful and prosperous Papua."

In the midst of uncertainty, this small yet powerful act serves as a beacon of hope. In Mumugu Village, kindness and care have conquered fear and division.
