NDUGA - Yonif 733/Masariku, the RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force, reaffirmed its dedication to shaping the future of Papua’s younger generation through educational outreach in the heart of Papua. On Wednesday, 2 July 2025, they visited SD Rimba Mumugu, in Krepkuri District, to engage in a Territorial Development Activity (Bintahwil), where the soldiers not only taught essential subjects but also fostered a deep sense of national pride.
Led by Second Lieutenant Inf Sirajul, the activity focused on mathematics as well as instilling national values through the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya. The classroom, made from basic wooden structures with plank floors, was filled with enthusiastic students eager to learn, despite the limited resources.
Sergeant Barakati, donned in his distinct camouflage uniform, stood in front of the class, teaching the children basic arithmetic operations and motivating them to continue their studies with determination, regardless of the challenges. But it was the moment when all the children stood up together to sing “Indonesia Raya” that truly exemplified the spirit of nationalism. Their voices resonated through the jungle, a clear testament that the love for their country remains strong in their hearts.
“We want to show that we are here not just as border guards, but as mentors who inspire the next generation, ” said Lieutenant Colonel Inf Julius Jongen Matakena, Commander of Yonif 733/Masariku. “Education is the path to a better future, and we are here to ensure that every child has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”
The children’s enthusiasm was evident, as they eagerly participated in every explanation and solved math problems with vigor. The interaction between the TNI personnel and students created a warm, familial atmosphere, where learning felt like a community effort rather than a traditional classroom setting.
Mr. Niko, a teacher at SD Rimba Mumugu, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the TNI Task Force’s involvement in the school’s learning process.
“We are so grateful for the presence of the TNI. The children are more motivated to learn, and they feel cared for by the state, ” said Mr. Niko.
The Yonif 733/Masariku Task Force hopes that such activities will continue to light a path for Papuan children, providing them with the encouragement they need to dream big and pursue their aspirations. The soldiers’ commitment goes beyond just keeping the border secure – it’s about building a brighter future for Papua’s next generation, where national pride and hope are always in the forefront.
Pangkoops Habema, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, offered his touching remarks:
“Seeing these children sing 'Indonesia Raya' with so much enthusiasm despite all their challenges is truly moving. It proves that nationalism is alive and well, regardless of distance or obstacles.”
“Our soldiers are not just military personnel; they are heart-driven mentors. Education is the cornerstone of civilization, and we are fully committed to ensuring that every child in Papua can dream and achieve their goals. This is our mission, and we will continue to support them, ” concluded Major General TNI Lucky Avianto.
