YAHUKIMO - Confronting the challenges of limited healthcare access in Indonesia’s remote borderlands, the Indonesian Border Security Task Force (PNG Mobile Battalion 1 Marines) has launched a proactive door-to-door healthcare initiative in Pardiso Village, Yahukimo Regency, on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Known as Kesling (Mobile Health Services), the operation targets areas where medical personnel and facilities are scarce, and residents often face long, difficult journeys to reach the nearest hospital. TNI Marines are bringing critical care directly to people’s homes conducting health checks, distributing vitamins, and treating the sick all while navigating rugged terrain.
“Thank you, Soldiers, for always being here to help us. Living in a remote place like this would be much harder without your support, ” said one local resident with a grateful smile after receiving treatment.
Marine Lieutenant Colonel Siswanto, Commander of the Task Force, emphasized that the mission of the TNI goes beyond security.
“Our duty is not only to safeguard the borders but also to ease the burdens faced by isolated communities. This is our sincere commitment to serving the people and the nation, ” he stated.
Major General Lucky Avianto, Commander of the Habema Operational Command, praised the initiative and expressed his hopes for continued outreach.
“We fully support efforts like these. They not only strengthen national unity but also improve public health and overall well-being in Papua’s frontier regions, ” he remarked.
As part of TNI’s human-centered approach in Papua, the mobile health service reflects a broader commitment to inclusive nation-building one that brings hope, health, and a human touch to Indonesia’s most remote citizens.
