INTAN JAYA - On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force Yonif 500/Sikatan exemplified its humanitarian commitment by conducting a Social Communication (Komsos) event that offered much-needed health services to the local community at TK Mamba Kotis, Intan Jaya.
Led by Dr. Indra Sitepu, a doctor with the Yonif 500/Sikatan Task Force, a team of 10 personnel provided free health check-ups and treatments to approximately 100 residents. The warmth of the local community was evident, with residents greeting the soldiers with smiles and genuine appreciation.
"Over the past two months, we’ve seen many residents with complaints ranging from back pain, infected wounds, fungal and bacterial skin diseases, to malaria and respiratory issues like colds and coughs, " said Second Lieutenant Ckm. Dr. Indra Sitepu, as he educated the residents on health matters during the treatment process.
Dr. Sitepu also expressed his hopes for the future of healthcare in the interior of Papua.
"We aim for more equitable distribution of health services in Intan Jaya, involving local agencies, recruiting health workers from the community, and continuing to educate the people on the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle, " he added.
This event underscores that the presence of the TNI is not solely about security but is deeply rooted in delivering humanitarian aid and fostering compassion for local communities.
"We are all Indonesians. The TNI is not an outsider, the TNI is a brother, " said Mr. Nominus, one of the residents, with a warm smile after receiving medical care.
The event was carried out with safety and a deep sense of camaraderie, leaving behind a powerful message that the bond between the TNI and the Papuan people will continue to strengthen through actions that resonate with the heart.
