PAPUA - On the edge of Indonesia’s borders, amidst the misty, cool air of the Papuan mountains, the spirit of service remains unwavering. The Yonif 700/Wira Yudha Cakti Task Force, stationed at the Java Gate Post, once again demonstrated their commitment to humanity with a remarkable display of compassion and service. Despite the challenging terrain and limited resources, the task force brought hope to remote communities by providing free healthcare services in Wombru Village, Mage'abume District, on July 9, 2025.
Under the leadership of Second Lieutenant Risal, the healthcare operation saw participation from residents across surrounding villages. Among the many who came seeking care, two individuals stood out: Etinus, a Wombru Village resident suffering from chronic headaches, and Mama Yesina, a mother from faraway Kembru Village, who traveled a long distance to receive much-needed treatment.
In a humble yet warm setting, with lush mountains surrounding the area, the soldiers quickly transformed a local honai (traditional Papuan hut) into an emergency healthcare center. Armed with simple medical supplies and an abundance of empathy, they treated the residents not just physically, but emotionally as well. The soldiers’ hands, though clothed in camouflage, were full of care, and their presence provided comfort to a community long deprived of such services.
First Lieutenant Risal shared that this operation was not just a military duty but a heartfelt act of solidarity with the Papuan people:
"We come not only as border guards but as brothers. Despite the challenges we face, we aim to be part of the solution. Hopefully, our presence brings some relief and strengthens the bond of brotherhood between us and the people here, " he said.
There were no sterile hospital environments, no advanced medical equipment, only dedication, sincerity, and the open Papuan sky as a natural roof. This operation was a testament to the human side of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) – a force committed not just to national security but to the well-being of the people.
The Yonif 700/WYC Task Force remains steadfast in its mission of service, continuing to walk through the dense jungle and across the valleys in pursuit of one simple but powerful goal: to serve the people.
