PAPUA - In a powerful demonstration of unity between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the local people in the border region, the RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force Yonif 1 Marines is not just connecting with adults, but is also spreading joy and solidarity among children in the Dekai District of Yahukimo Regency. This heartwarming activity took place on Sunday (06/07/2025).
While carrying out their routine patrols, Marine personnel consistently make time to greet and interact with children they meet along the way. The children, full of energy and joy, respond with enthusiastic greetings, which are warmly reciprocated by the soldiers with friendly smiles and engaging conversations. These exchanges often include light-hearted chats about the children's daily lives, offering a moment of connection in the midst of their routine duties.
As a sign of care, the task force also provides assistance in the form of basic necessities to be delivered to the children's families, further strengthening the bond between the military and local communities.
Task Force Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Siswanto, emphasized the importance of such community service activities as part of the TNI's broader mission to support territorial development. "This activity reflects the TNI’s genuine commitment to building harmonious relationships with the community and fostering a conducive atmosphere in the region under our care, " he stated.
In support of these efforts, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of TNI Habema Koops, praised the Yonif 1 Marine Task Force's social communication activities. "This is a tangible example of the TNI’s dedication to the Papuan people, as well as our ongoing support for the accelerated development of the border region, " he said.
This initiative is a prime example of the TNI’s territorial duties, which not only focus on security but also emphasize emotional and social closeness with the local community, contributing to the growth and well-being of Papua.
